The Ocean Safety Signalling Heliograph is easy to use in only 3 simple steps:
1. Hold foresight in left hand and in front of Heliograph
2. Align hole in heliograph with hole in foresight with target ship
3. Angle heliograph until sun shines into reflecting strip on foresight. A black dot will appear on strip. Whilst the black dot shows over foresight hole you are flashing on target. In strong sunshine reflecting strip may cause 'Glare' so use reverse side of foresight.
